Longing for the Langhe…

Autumn is no more alive than in the Langhe region of Piedmont. What with the truffles, the wine, the funghi… You can wind your way along scenic roads, stopping to taste the bounty of the land.

The colors are just so… autumn! And the aromas… it’s heady stuff.

One weekend in November, we found ourselves at the Contratto Cantina… Known for their Spumante, they also produce vermouth and wines such as Barolo… a grand Piemontese tradition.

Just tell me this lady is not having a good time!

And so were we, as we observed the harvest colors, sipping our way through vineyards large and small… The Contratto tradition of labeling is an art, and a little piece of history itself.
